A 4‑phase methodology for taking over an existing (brownfield) project: Reconnaissance → Architecture Mapping → Convention Detection → Output. Triggers: when a user says things like “just cloned an old repo / how do I take over / help me understand this codebase / I’m not familiar with this project / where do I start”, or when Claude notices an obviously non-empty project (e.g., src/ populated and no .claude/PRPs/) but the user hasn’t issued /onboard; in that case Claude can proactively offer onboarding. The /onboard command is the explicit entry point for this skill.
